If you’re interesting in learning Blender and specifically cars, I don’t think there’s a better tutorial out there.Let’s see what you will be creating in this tutorial. There’s obviously the 2.7 to 2.8 issue but as you said it isn’t really an issue as you should be able to find where things have moved to easily enough. That is really the only negative I can think of. This is quite minor though as there’s plenty of guides on youtube for this. He does use an HDRI to render the final image but doesn’t use the HDRI as a background. The course doesn’t cover everything though, the most notable in my oponion is setting up HDRI’s or images to be used as a background. Because of that, I found the first couple of chapters slow as I kept having to pause and rewind but the way it’s presented does make it easy to pick up. While I’m not new to 3D modelling as I’ve been doing engineering CAD on and off for 15 years, I’d never used Blender before and jumped in straight away with this tutorial. Though he does always say, for example, press G to move or whatever and he has the key press display on for the whole tutorial too. I think it’s labelled as intermediate as he doesn’t really cover the basic basics like the UI or controls etc. So rather than just copying him, you gain an understanding and insight in to modelling which allows you to transfer the skills to modelling your own car or whatever else. I think more importantly than explaining what he’s doing is he often explains why he’s doing what he’s doing too. The only bits time lapsed are the repetitious parts - so for example, if there’s 10 vertices to move all in the same way then he’ll show moving 2 or 3 vertcies in real time with rest in a time lapse. In every video he explains what he’s doing at every step and for the vast majority of the course it’s in real time so you can follow along. Each section has invidual chapter videos in for each bit - so a seperate video for the hood, fender, door etc so it’s easy follow along a chapter at a time. The course is split in to 3 main sections the modelling, materials and rendering. The long answer - If memory serves the free chapter is the tire? If so, the whole course is like that.
